UA-Pulaski Tech The Center for Humanities & Arts (CHARTS)
Hangers will be at UA-Pulaski Tech Center for Humanities and Arts in North Little Rock as part of the Arkansas Theatre Festival.
Hangers is the “coming-out story” of a teenage girl named Ashanti—who explores the possibilities of identity through attire and freedom of self expression. This stage-play is based on a true story in the late 90's / early 2000's, in Nashville, TN, via the home of a Seventh – Day Adventist family, and a small facet of the church. As the play progresses, we witness Ashanti, and a few other characters challenge religious ideologies, practices, and hierarchies that promote and/or support homophobia and religious subjugation.
